9-14 mm. Palaearctic species, common in Hungarian forests. Foodplants are broad-leaved trees, particularly oak (Quercus). Larvae develop at first beneath the bark, later moving into the heartwood where they pupate. Overwinter as adults. Adults can be seen from April to June.
