9-19 mm. Palaearctic species. Found in highland conifer forests in Hungary. Larvae feed at first under the bark and later migrate into the heartwood of conifers, mainly spruce (Picea abies). Pupal chamber is in the heartwood. Adults fly from April and can be found on freshly dead wood and wood piles.
