15-20 mm. Eastern and Southern European species. A characteristic but uncommon species of oak forests. Larvae feed and pupate beneath the bark of weakened or dead oaks (Quercus). Adults can be found on the foodplants from July to September, becoming active at dusk. Attracted to lights.
