3.5-9 mm. Occurs from Southern-, and Central-Europe to the Caucasus. Characteristic species of forest margins of karst downy oak forests. Larvae develop in dry branches of Quercus pubescens. Adults can be found in May-June on the branches of the foodplant. When disturbed they become motionless, feigning death. Rare in Hungary.
