Phytomyza ilicis Curt.
Diptera: Agromyzidae

Univoltine (IX-V.). Host is the Ilex. The female oviposits on the midrib on the upper surface. The larva starts mining the leaf then overwinters. The yellowish brown mine is an elongated tunnel first later becomes a blotch mine. The faeces is scattered within the mine. The upper epidermis of part of the mine made before overwintering often becomes brown and dry by spring. Pupation takes place in the mine. Occurs in Europe, sporadic in Hungary.
