Rynchaenus quercus Linné
Coleoptera: Curculionidae

Univoltine (V-VI.), often completes development in first part of May. Hosts are Quercus species. The mine is a large, bilateral blotch, regularly found on the tip of the leaf. Regularly begins with a narrow tunnel, but the blotch part often incorporates it. The mined part of the leaf quickly dries. The elongated larva is yellowish white. The faeces are found as scattered fine grains within the mine. Occurs in whole Europe, sometimes abundant.
