Management Options Presented in this section is a flow chart (fig. 18), based on current stand conditions, designed to help managers select the tactics that best fit their specific management situations. By selecting the categories appropriate to a specific stand, readers will arrive at a set of letters (A through N). These letters refer to the specific management strategies presented in the Management Practices section, which follows the flow chart. The color coding of the letters indicates which pest is being dealt with and corresponds to the coding in the Management Practices section. The suggested options are not meant to be stand prescriptions, but are designed to be used in conjunction with other pest and stand management data to develop the stand prescription. Managers are urged to modify the hazard-rating systems and options to tailor the system to their specific needs. Fusiform Rust Expert System Here is a sample problem, and its solution.
