Csóka, György and Kovács, Tibor (1999): Xilofág rovarok - Xylophagous insects. Hungarian Forest Research Institute. Erdészeti Turományos Intézet, Agroinform Kiadó, Budapest, 189 pp. Mn: - / En: - 12-16 mm. West-palaearctic species. Larvae most often develop in branches and thinner stems of Salix for 2 years. They chew flat and widening tunnels under the bark, but pupate in the xylem. The feeding causes a swelling on the branch - similar to that caused by the larva of Compsidia populnea. The adults leave the pupal chamber trough an asymmetrically oval emergence hole that is deeper on one side (typical for the flat jewel beetles). Adults can be found from May to August on the foodplant. Sporadic and rare in Hungary.
