11-15 mm. European species. The larvae develop under the bark of stems and thicker branches of old, but still living lime trees (Tilia), usually exposed to sunshine. They chew shallow galleries, but pupate in the xylem. The adults swarm from May until late June. Can be found resting on piles of lime logs in the sun or flying around them. Widespread - mainly in mountainous regions- in Hungary, not rare.
