Mn: Nagy korisszú  /  En: Large ash bark beetle

The adult is 4-6 mm long, the largest of the Hylesinus species native to Hungary. Univoltine. The egg gallery is two-branched, 3 mm wide and 5-6 cm long. Larval tunnels are long, initially straight, later bend. Lives under the thick bark of ash (Fraxinus) species. In Hungary less common than H. fraxini.
