Csóka, György and Kovács, Tibor (1999): Xilofág rovarok - Xylophagous insects. Hungarian Forest Research Institute. Erdészeti Turományos Intézet, Agroinform Kiadó, Budapest, 189 pp. Mn: Gödrösnyakú cincér / En: 10-27 mm. Palaearctic species. Common and widespread in Hungarian conifer forests. Larvae develop in heartwood of conifers, mainly Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris). The pupal chamber is always constructed parallel to the axis of the stem, and is blocked above and below with woodchips. Before pupating the larva opens an emergence hole in the bark. Found from June to September. Adults spend the day in bark crevices and in wood piles, and search for fresh fallen wood and stumps at dusk.
