Mn: Szorös szarvasbogár  /  En: -

5-7 mm. Occurs in Central-, and Southern-Europe. Prefers undisturbed old forests in cold and humid habitats. The larvae develop in the fallen decaying wood of broad-leaved trees, and the adults are found in similar places. The adults seek new larval feeding sites and mating sites at sunset. The adults do not feed during their short life. Rare in Hungary.
