3.5-4 mm. The two-branched egg gallery is horizontal, 2-3 mm wide and up to 10 cm long. Excavated deeply into the sapwood. The larval tunnels are vertical and ca. 2 cm long. Foodplants are pine (Pinus) and occasionally spruce (Picea). Palaearctic species, in the Carpathian basin occurs mainly in mountainous regions.
